Over Paid Athletes

There are people starving in Africa, thousands of people living in homeless shelters across Canada, devastating environmental disasters across the world all of which could be solved, at least in part, with money.
While all of this is happening in front of our eyes, we are simultaneously watching professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to play sports and entertain us. Is it just me, or is something seriously wrong with this picture? According to the sports illustrated list of the 50 top-earning American athletes the average earning of this year’s 50 is $24.3 million. I am aware that professional athletes are talented and are the best at their respective sports, but how can they justify getting paid millions of dollars? When I hear of athletes like LeBron James of the Miami Heat getting paid $14.5 million or Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees making $32 million I am appalled. It’s even worse when I hear stories of athletes holding out on signing contracts because they think they’re worth even more. How can any sane person throw a temper tantrum over getting paid millions? Drew Doughty, for example, has yet to sign a $6.8 million contract for the Los Angeles Kings. There is no way you can justify throwing a hissy fit over $6.8 million. Some may argue that getting paid millions of dollars to play is justified because of all the money they have invested into their careers. I am not saying that professional athletes should not be getting paid, but maybe a more modest amount. I would like to think athletes became professional athletes for the love of the game, not the love of money. So when did it become about the love of the money and not the game?Athletes can put a dollar amount to their talent, but not even a thought to all those suffering without a thing to eat or a place to sleep.  How can someone feel so entitled to a particular amount of money, yet not feel the need to help others? One day I might have more respect for these athletes when they are donating even a tenth of their salary to people in need. But realistically that would never happen.

The Last Lecture -- In Review

Hi Cody,

Now that you are finished, I'd be interested in hearing your response to the following questions:

1)  What was the funniest part you remember from The Last Lecture?  What is it about that moment or story that makes it funny to you?
The funniest moment was when, he had some of his students bring some of his stuff animals he had won from the carnival, Because it was funny that he had kept them all these years and didn't threw them away or his wife didn't give them to good will.

2)  List several important ideas or lessons that Pausch teaches.
He talks about things like, his childhood dreams and enabling the dreams of others, and lessons on how you can achieve your childhood dreams or enable the dreams of others.

3)  Explain which of Pausch's ideas or lessons is the most valuable to you.  Why is it more valuable than the rest?
Live life to the fullest, there is no time for anything less, do what u want to do in life not what others want you to do or want you to be. I think its valuable to me because that is what I feel I need to do instead of worrying about things and making life harder then it really should be.

4)  Does The Last Lecture inspire you to leave something behind for your loved ones?  What do you think you might want to leave for your child or children specifically
Yes because, before watching the lecture I did not think of how my wife and kids were going to live and if they were going to be okay, so I think I would do almost what randy did, make sure they had a place to live close to family for support, made sure that they had everything they needed before I past away so they were not in any financial problems.

*Try to answer all questions using full sentences, proper punctuation and as many details from The Last Lecture as you can.  Please spell check before publishing.

The main problem in my book.

The main character in my story is Randy |Pausch. his problem he was facing, well no really a problem more of a condition and that was  pancreatic cancer. he had got a cat scan done on his brain and had reviled multiple tumors in his brain and couldn't be treated. The doctors told him he had 3-6 months of good health left, although that were true Randy Pausch lost the battle and died on July 25, 2008. Before he had died with the moths that he had left to live with good health, he had extreamly  great health for someone that wasn't going to live for vary long. And in the last few months he had wrote a book called "The Last Lecture". the that lecture there is thing he didn't talk about and things he did talk about he did not talk about the cancer he did not want to talk about his wife and kids or he didn't want to talk about his death bed. He wanted to talk about his childhood dreams, enabling the dreams of others and how to achieve your dreams and to enable others.

Gun control and how it should be handled

In the past 2 years I have heard  news reports and read in the news papers a lot about gun control in our country. The problem with our gun control laws and the reason gun control is so far out of control is because if some one gets caught with a prohibited gun, and by the time their lawyers deal it out in court they might get a couple months in jail then they are back out on the streets doing it all over again. But just smarter about it because they were in jail for a couple months and were taught by the other inmates how to be smarter about handling and weapon. If that's the way gun control is going to be handled by our justice system, Then it is only going to get worse! Maybe our justice system should try a different approach on the issue, like if you get caught red handed with a prohibited gun you should not go to court, and you should not get a lawyer You should go straight to prison and do a full 10 year sentence no parole no questions asked. If you get caught with a loaded prohibited gun you should go straight to prison no lawyer no courts and do a full 20 year sentence no parole no questions asked. If you get caught with a prohibited loaded stolen gun they you have fired off even if it was into the ground you should go straight to prison and do a full 40 year sentence no parole no courts no lawyers and no questions asked,  Last but no least if you get caught with a  gun and your already a convicted felon you should go straight to prison and do a full 60 year sentence. Our justice system should give it a try for at least 2 years to see the out come of it. I think it will save the tax payers a lot of money and save the courts a lot of time and most of all I think it would make our country a safer place to live and our jails wouldn't be so over crowded because 90% of  these want to be gangsters would be to scared to pick up a gun because they are to chicken to spend the next 10 to 60 years in prison for stupidity.

stop the killing

everytime you turn on a television to watch the news or even turn on the radio you hear about people getting shot or stabbed in the back. What is wrong the the people in the world, what ever happen to the days when you had a problem with someone else and took them out side and have a fist to fist and beat the crap out of each other until whatever the problem was is gone, than go back and finish your drinks like real men. The problem is that people are not scared to take a punch but sure is scared to take one. They say they are big bad and tough alsong as they are the ones doing the punching, but when it comes time for them to get some punches back they go run and get a gun or a knife, and be a little chicken and hide behind a gun. Its really not worth it spending 10 years in prison just because you did not feel manly enough to take a punch instead they go get a gun or a knife and shoot or stab someone. When someone kills another person they are ruining 2 families, the family of the one you killed and your family because u just put your self away for the rest of your life. So I think we should but all the gun and weapons down and fight like the olden days and stop the high rate of murders in the world.

dogs.

I like dogs I have one of my own.Well not my own but a family dog, she is a rottie and her name is Justice. All dogs are just like a baby, they eat sleep, poop and play. there are many breeds of dogs like golden retreaver, rotties, pugs, bulldogs etc. People say that some dogs are vary mean like the pit bull for instance. they are looking to band them. Well the way I see it that it is not the dog that is being that way it is the owner and how they are raised will affect on how they react around other dogs people and babies. If the owners would raise them right from when they are puppies then I think most dogs wouldn't be like that.

Rugby

Rugby is a sport most people don't want to play, and those who do play are good at the sport.
Rugby is a sport where the ball can only go back or side ways it cannot be past forward or that is a penalty call a forward pass. it has no equitment other than a mouth guard. You have to tackle the other player from neck down and cannot pick the player up and drop them. to score you have to run into the end zone and touch the ball on the ground. if u fail to do so therefor it is not a try.
